We are traveling through Wyoming and just visited the first rest area in Wyoming. The story goes that highways have been around since the 1920s but nowhere to stop and stretch your legs. President Johnson and Lady Bird Johnson made way for the Highway Beautification Act in 1965. This created the first rest area, which is educational and fun for the kids.

This rest stop in Lusk, Wyoming became popular with the locals and travelers. It was the first to have flushing toilets, hot and cold water, grills for cooking out, and a playground. I wish they had these in our home state, Georgia.
