We are traveling through Wyoming and just visited the first rest area in Wyoming. The story goes that highways have been around since 1920s but no where to stop and stretch your legs. President Johnson and Lady Bird Johnson made way for the Highway Beautification Act in 1965.
This rest area in Lusk, Wyoming became popular with the local and travelers. It was the first to have flushing toilets, hot and cold water, grills for cooking out and a playground. I wish they had these in our home state, Georgia.
