Homeschool class at Jacksonville Zoo
Yesterday we went to a homeschool meeting at the Jacksonville
The classes will be rotated every year so they shouldn’t take the same class twice. The fee is $100 for members and $125 for non-members. The parents get to drop off their kids for 3 hours and then have time to get some errands done or some much needed mommy time while the kids are in class.
In the class the kids will do some instruction and get to go into the zoo. They have to bring their own snack. The parents will be sent an email of what the kids will be learning for each class, so you can focus on what they are learning for an extra day or week. There will be workbook sheets that you can either do or not do, it is up to you.
The director did say she would be willing to open up an afternoon class from 1pm – 4pm on Wednesday if we can get 50 kids. She also said she will open it up to all out of town home schoolers and Jacksonville kids who just want an afternoon class. We have till June 30th to decide.
LOng Drive for us
I realize this is a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive for a lot of us and a huge commitment, so only respond if your serious. I also know that we have other options in Savannah, like Oatland Island, but this would be a great opportunity for all of our kids.
If you are interested in going to class let me know by June 30th. I will need the names and ages of each child attending and I will contact The Jacksonville zoo. At this time they only want one point of contact. So if you have anymore questions please let me know and I will contact the director.
